I see RSS feeds on several site features. What do they do?

RSS feeds allow you to subscribe to content on certain areas of our site with an application called a feedreader.

When a new entry is made, it automatically appears in the feedreader's list and is available for you to enjoy.

The nice thing about feedreaders is you can use one feedreader to subscribe to dozens of feeds or more -- and read them all in one place. With a feedreader, you don't have to travel from blog to blog, or site to site. Just open your feedreader and quickly scan the new posts from all of them.

If you've never tried a feedreader, there are a number of web-based versions that are free and easy to use.

Google Reader is my current favorite.

Many newer web browsers also have feedreaders/feed bookmarks built in.

How do you subscribe? You can usually click on the little orange feed logo either directly in a web page or in the browser navigation window to subscribe. If that doesn't work for some reason, you can always right click (control click for Macs) on the feed logo and then copy and paste the feed URL directly into your feedreader.
